Blessings of the Season

Blessings of the Season

 Cynthia Taylor Clark

Glittering houses, crisp cold air, warm ovens cooking,
sweet smelling fir trees, colored lights twinkling.
List making, ribbon tying, presents hiding, mothers humming,
choirs singing, bells in distance ringing.
Snow coming, boots crunching, shinning starry nights,
 memories cherished, making new ones.
 Oh how senses come alive!
Joyous planning, sharing feasts, family toasting,
Fires bright for cozy nights, tucked in bed, children dreaming,
loving gifts, hugs to share, blessing wishes each new year.
Laughter echoes, stockings tiptoe, early rises sneak below,
all the trimmings, such delight, pure abundance all aglow.
 Tis the Season, Merry Christmas!
 Just the feelings, heartlight grows!

                     Creating Magic & Balance

Today I gave myself the gift of stretching and Yoga with the sun shinning through the skylights. Only 11 degrees upon rising. After painting yesterday, I feel the innocence of my inner child feeling the lightness of the holiday approaching. As I felt guided to turn on PBS, I was delighted to find a travel show about Christmas in Germany. The many outdoor markets in the beautiful villages of old filled with decorated booths of traditional wooden and glass ornaments, and their many tempting foods and treats. It was like walking through one of their sweet advent calendars that I have collected over the years. I have enjoyed this tradition with my twin daughters since they were 3 yrs old. Opening a window each day, to reveal an animal or toy as we counted down the days till St. Nicholas came, and the baby was laid in the manger.

Can we keep the magic of the season alive with all the distractions?

I must say that the feelings I carry about my own childhood and that of my own children bring that precious twinkle of Joy to my heart. But now I have to decide how to create more of that Joy within myself, since I do not have little ones around to remind me. Christmas is a delight to behold, even with the way too many cues to shop until you drop. I love to see the decorations and the little children's faces bundled in their snow suits and boots dreaming their Christmas dreams.

My prayers for all of us this season are for more awareness in the moments of celebration and being kind to each other. We need a little more patience as we go about the hustle and bustle of preparing for the big day. Let the theme of counting each day special begin with your own traditions. Let love and appreciation activate your heart center in making decisions of how much to do. We do not need to be in overwhelm. But we can make an intention to chose those things that make the heart sing, things that remind us of the memories that we are creating. And so that we may be a blessing to ourselves as well as to our family and community.

Intentional Creativity ~ Your Heart Knows the Way...

Fall is in the air. The trees are showing their bright yellow, orange, and red dresses before they shed -the Dance with the Wind. How easy it is to linger and wonder, as we see this yearly color wash of Goddess and Earth Mother energizing our hearts as we give thanks for the harvest and prepare for going inward. Inside with warm fires, and wood stacked for stoves, hot cider and apples and dreaming of all the sweet smells of traditions and family events. This is also a wonderful time for visiting our own personal journey and dreaming of what we want to explore in the winter months to come.
Time for Inquiry...What is my dream, and what more would I like to Discover? Most of us rush through each day without ever contemplating or dreaming of something else which could bring us more Joy. What would it look like, and how could you even find time to make the change that would bring you more healing, more peace and happiness ?

There is a movement happening called The Red Thread Nation,"The Color Of Woman". A shared community of woman painting to create change within themselves and the world.
It has added so much more healing and light to my life that I am now finishing my teachers training and will be offering workshops for woman who are called to open their hearts and give themselves a truly beautiful gift. A way to access their inner compass and create more self-love and fulfillment. A way to create a life you would truly love to live.

Summer Dream Time

I choose to drop in - seated in the adirondack chair.Dropping into my Heart. Feet bare, planted in theAugust grass. Listening to the crickets and the trees talking breeze. I feel the sun's warmth on my legs as I let my breath deepen.Inquiry? Why can I become so shaken by my list of things to do?This feeling of no power to get things done on time. When, even ifthey don't, life will still go on and most of it will happen as planned.I live by the calendar with hand scratched appointments and a sense oftime moving way to fast.

I need this grounding time. Connecting deep through my feet chakras. I hear children yelling in the background, their summer almost near end. A pleasant memory comes of years past with picnics on the grass and tents made from blankets strung between two trees. And popsicles dripping down your hands.  Screaming as you run through the cold water sprinkler in the back yard.

My Wisdom Speaks....
"It's time to find a bit of shade and sun to spread your
imaginary wings and just lay upon the earth,
for soon the winds of change will run cold and back in
inside we will Be. Cozily making soup and painting pretty things.
So now take a pillow and blanket if you must, but bring yourself
down onto the earth and close your eyes and listen.
Listen to the peace that holds you, that caresses you as you "Let Go"
of all the silly "must do's". You can save the world tomorrow.
But today save yourself for just a few minutes - remember why
you are here. To Touch, to feel, to laugh and cry just like you
did as a child. Wiggle your toes, look up to the sky and dream
for just awhile. And then get up refreshed and amused and
loved by the wise Muse deep inside."

Welcome Spring! ~ Gift of the Flower Fairies

Welcome Spring! ~
Gift of the Flower Fairies

Every moment our spirit shows us the blessings in everyday living if we slow down enough to look and listen. How we expand that place of "seeing with an inner eye depends on how we chose to create our life. Are we seeing all that spirit has for us?
Question the Rose. How does its beauty and fragrance effect us? If we would just stop to glance and smell its amazing scent, could the moment shift our energy into a magic space of receiving its gifts?  Can a flower bring you a gift beyond its physical existence?
My African violet was sadly neglected. It had not bloomed in months. I noticed how over grown it had become. That sad feeling came up of when would I have to make the decision to just throw it away saving me the time to re-pot it. My glance and questioning this made me pause and notice that the violet was rapidly creating many new starter plants. How could I ignore it's abundant growth! I felt it calling to me. I then made the decision to enjoy the warm spring day and take it outside and gently separate the new sprouts. I found new pots in the garage and began setting them into their new homes. I felt so much lighter after connecting with the plants and the soil. I gave two away and kept three in the cottage window sill on the big shaded porch. Like three sisters sitting in a row, they seemed to thrive with just the right amount of sun. Their leaves began to thicken and shine. But no buds.
At the time I was committing myself to a Friday morning "painting play day". Music and watercolors bring out the child in me, and I felt the violets cheering me on. Taking time for me for a few hours while I watched the lake activity was very healing. I still wondered about my very "violet" violets. Were they waiting for fall when all the outside blossoms would be gone?
Fall came too soon. And as I moved the sisters three to a window sill back at the house I noticed some very small buds hiding under the leaves. Then many more! My heart leaped as I realized that I was also starting to bloom after a long period of doubt, sadness, and fear. My heart was lighter and so the violets came. 1-2-3 and more.
They filled the spaces between the rich green leaves with precious purple gems. A red violet hue surrounded a white center. I watch them daily and accepted the gift of their beauty while I pondered the message they gave me, of growing within me a new awareness of more light. And the patience to love and honor where I am on my spiritual path. I remember that red violet is the color of the hand chakra of creativity.

These are the violet fairies!  And I am grateful for their sweet message.

"The Power Pause" ~ The Healing Breath

What Am I Feeling Right Now? (Write Now!)

I am noticing that my awareness around breathing is becoming more acute. When I start to feel my energy tapping out, I am being "cued" by my Inner Wise Self to take notice. "Come back into your body and feel the breath," she whispers. As I inhale slowly and deeply I immediately feel my shoulders drop and sense my body fully supported by the chair. I become more engaged with how I am doing right now.
I begin by stretching my spine to sit up taller and continue to breathe checking in with my neck. It feels quite stiff, so I gently look up to the ceiling and then lower my chin to my chest with another exhale. As I continue to breathe deeper into my lungs I expand the diaphragm and notice my entire body release the tension I have been holding. As I do this my emotional body responds as well. Any irritation surfaces immediately.
Using this opportunity to acknowledge the feeling helps bring me to a place of consideration. Can I let it go? Maybe I need to write about it later, but in the moment of observing, the feeling may soften and be released from the body where I am holding it. This is a great time for me to be present with the emotions and determine where it is actually being held in my body. Once I identify that place, I can direct my breath to that part and ask for healing light to exhale it away. Next I might chose to say a positive self-care message to myself. Or I may hear one arise from my intuitive guidance.
"Relax and let Go." What do you need right now? A cup of tea, a call to a friend, a walk around the block?" Follow your guidance and take that "Pause" before returning to your project.
Doing this Yoga Breath practice not only brings me into the present moment of potential healing, but it also cleanses my lungs of old stale oxygen and replaces it with fresh new energy. A Power Pause is a simple, yet powerful, way to check in and release the tension before it multiplies creating more dis - ease in your body and allowing negative emotions to increase.
If you tend to move quickly through your day (like I do) multi-tasking without a break, give this a try! Small changes in our self-care can really bring more awareness and daily acceptance to ourselves and others.

Blessings to you as we begin our journey
out of the darkness of winter and into spring.
Blessed Be.

The Business of Loving ~ Valentines Day

  •  Here we are in the Business of LOVE Month.                      Everywhere Hearts and Flowers and Candy.

The child in me lights up to see all the colorful displays and tempting treats. The red and pink filled windows and aisles emit a sweet chocolate scent and a feeling that reminds me of school days filled with excitement and dread of passing around the valentine cards. Just visit the Snoopy and Charlie Brown FB page for some fun reminders of those olden, golden Sweetheart Days.
Whatever your Heart yearns for this week remember to listen to the feelings and celebrate them. Some will be fun and full of good memories while others may bring some sadness of love lost or family who have left your life in the physical or departed to the spirit realm. Being in awareness of all that is moving in and through your heart and mind is your Soul's Journey.
When the feelings come up as they will, a practice of writing them down and questioning them is a very healing exercise. Just acknowledging them and accepting how you feel will move your energy back to the present moment.
Heart Exercise: Commit to writing for 10 minutes a day. How am I feeling right now?
As you allow the words to spill from your pen you will notice your body feel less tense as it comes into the moment of what you are feeling. If the emotions are intense or suttle, your ability to open and receive them at the time you are holding them can shift the energy to gratitude.
If your Heart is calling to you to help you heal any parts of your life give this a try.
You might finish with the words, "My Intention Is" and see how your inner wise self responds.
See what comes in to align your TRUE self with the LOVE that YOU ARE.  You may get an instant idea of how to share your love that day with someone else be it a small act of kindness or just nurturing your own Heart. Sometimes we just need to look in the mirror and say
" I LOVE YOU!" If you can't quite do that yet, then just give yourself a hug or take an extra 5 minutes to appreciate some things in your life.
"Let the Heart Warm your Soul"  c 2013

Blessings to you and the Angels that surround you!
 HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

If you would like some support on your journey, I would be honored to support you.
